Hi, I’m Anna.

Before training as a counsellor, I worked as a journalist and editor on national newspapers and magazines. Interviewees would often tell me that having a chance to share their story with someone who was really listening was ‘like therapy’ which always got me thinking how great it would be if they had access to actual therapy.

And so I decided to train as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

I love meeting new clients and getting to know them. I’m passionate about continually updating my skills so that I have a wide range of insights and strategies to offer but above all I’m passionate about listening.

Many people describe themselves as good listeners but few people really are and the experience of being properly heard is one of the most powerful things that happens in a therapy room. Telling your story to someone who is trying to see the world through your eyes is an experience that everyone should have. I become a counsellor because I wanted to offer that experience to as many people as possible.

What type of counselling do I practice?

I believe that you are a unique individual and therefore that counselling should be tailored to your individual needs. In order to deliver on that belief,  I have trained in techniques from many different types of psychotherapy (this is called a Pluralistic approach). It allows us to build a bespoke way of working on your difficulties.

How I protect your privacy

As a fully qualified counsellor and member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I adhere to the association’s code of ethics including making sure my practice is fully GDPR compliant. You are welcome to read my full privacy policy here and to ask any further questions when we meet.

Why choose me?

Research shows that the most important predictor of a good outcome in counselling is the quality of the relationship between client and counsellor. As a trained psychotherapist with a background in journalism, good communication is at the very heart of what I do and I welcome continuous feedback from my clients on how we can strengthen our therapeutic bond.

I respect your personal preferences and your individuality and will not insist on forcing one type of therapy on you. Instead we can look, together, across a wide range of approaches so we can work out what works best in your particular situation.

You are a one-off and I am here to help you enjoy being you.
